Heifer International
Read to Feed
Games + School + Play = Childhood . . .
but this is not the equation everywhere in the world. Shouldn’t those of us who are more fortunate do something to help? Heifer International gives to people who need food and other things. An animal can help feed a whole family, possibly send a child to school, and as one NCS student pointed out, “You get a chance to be kind.”
This week students in grades K-5 watched a great video, “The Promise.” We are off and reading!
If a class meets its reading goal, they can send a flock of chickens to a family far away. The NPTO has graciously offered to donate the money to buy some chickens through Heifer International. We have to do our part to make it work! Please encourage your child(ren) to read at home. The ‘home goal’ amounts to 100 minutes, or approximately 15-20 minutes a day.
The Artist of the Week
Chris S. in 3rd grade.
Chris is a motivated student in Art class. He often pushes himself with an assignment to do extra. Chris also takes enouh time to exhibit well, thought out work. Recently Chris carefully constructed two clay vessels. Great job, Chris!
