Captain Bob is a former instructor at the University of Maine and Maine Maritime Academy. Over the twelve years he taught marine biology, oceanography, chemistry and he developed the aquaculture industry in Maine. His love for the sea also directed him to teach scuba diving and to become a master diving instructor. He served as the diving instructor for the University of Maine marine lab. Captain Bob was selected to be one of the first fifty Kellogg National fellows which allowed him the opportunity to study fishing techniques all over the world. He was able to develop a definitive study of world fishing management techniques based on historical success and failures of various countries.
His loves of biology and travel have taken him on two expeditions to the Galapagos as an American guide. He considers these adventures to be high points of his career.
As skipper of Morning In Maine he has guided many visitors through the beauty of the Maine coast. He artfully explains the nuances of the environment of the sustainable but fragile coast of Maine. Bob's background includes several years as a commercial fisherman, diver and scalloper. Captain Bob will provide an interesting narrative of the local environment as well as the ocean economy that drives the mid coast region.
