One day a new kid came to Wiscasset. He had no friends.
Somebody came to Joe and said, " I'll be your friend. What's your name?"
"My name's Joe. What's your name?" he asked.
"My name's Casey," said Casey.
"So Joe, what do you want to do?" he asked.
"Will you show me around?" asked Joe.
"What do you want me to show you?" asked Casey.
"Will you show me where the bathroom is?" asked Joe.
"Yes, I will Joe." replied Casey.
"Joe, we are at the bathroom," Casey said.
"Good," Joe said. "I'm glad we are friends, Casey."
"So am I, Joe." replied Casey.
"Casey, do you have any friends?." asked Joe.
"Yes. Why?" answered Casey.
"Will you say I'm your friend too?" asked Joe.
"Yes I will, Joe, Come on." said Casey calmly.
Miss Lord said Casey should move his desk in front of Joe's. At first Casey didn't talk to Joe but a few days later Casey began to talk with him. They played together while on the playground. They were becoming friends. They were such good friends that sometimes they forgot to do their work! But Miss Lord understood that they needed to talk to each other. She reminded them that they would have plenty of time to talk at recess and snack time.
Joe and Casey were very good about following Miss Lord's rules.
Every day they become better friends.....best friends!
