Colonial Food

By Miranda H.

People ate meat, chicken and seafood twice a day. They also ate lots of fresh fruits and vegetables in season . They had to get their own food. Most families had a cow, chicken, and ducks. They had to grow their own vegetables. Neighbors traded with each other. Families stored food in the cellars. Meat was cured, and sugar was a luxury. Milk was reserved for babies. Children and adults drank tea or cider. Many wonderful recipes have been handed down through generations.
