Saturn
by Justin
Saturn is the sixth planet from the Sun and the second largest
planet. Saturn has eighteen moons. It takes 29 years for it to make a
whole revolution. It takes ten hours for Saturn to rotate. Saturn has
been known since prehistoric times. Saturn was first visited by
Pioneer 11 and
later by Voyager 1 and Voyager 2. Early observations of Saturn
were complicated by the fact that the earth passes through the plane
of Saturn's rings every few years. Saturn moves in it's own orbit. It
was not until 1659 that Christian Huygens correctly figured out the
geometry of the rings.
