All About Bats - A First Grade Journey

Cooperatively written by Mrs. Schlein's 1996-97 First Grade Class

This fall (1996) we studied about bats. We want to share the steps involved in designing these pictures and some of the things we learned.

First, we planned out our text and then sketched illustrations on a planning sheet. Next, we used Kid Pix to type the text (in most cases the text was edited by the teacher). Then we chose our font and color for the text and drew our bat pictures. Utilizing many of the painting options a variety of illustrating styles were possible. The picture was saved and transferred over to slideshow and voice was added to each slide by the children. (The sound is not available on the web at this time.)

We are just learning how to spell so some of these slides may not contain conventional spellings.
