Wiscasset Primary School is a busy school serving students from
kindergarten through fourth grade. We start school in September and
go until the middle of June. We start school at 7:50 and finish at
2:40 Monday - Friday.
We have three kindergarten and second grade rooms, and four first,
third, and fourth grade rooms. There are between eighteen and
twenty-four students in our classes. There are seven custodians,
eighteen homeroom teachers, eighteen special area teachers, and 384
students.
Our school has a computer lab networked with thirty-one Macintosh
computers and each second, third, and fourth grade room has four
networked Macintosh computers. We use the computers at least one half
hour each day for Jostens' reading, math, writing, and research. All
rooms are networked to the Internet.
We have a gymnasium that at lunch time is turned into a cafeteria!
There is a stage that is sometimes used for plays we do for parents
and students. There is a music room where students learn about music
and singing. There are speech rooms provided for students who need
help with their speech problems. The art room is for students to
learn about famous artists and learn how to draw. The library is for
students to read and to sign out books. We scan in our books when we
want to take a book out. The science room is where the students learn
very interesting things. There is a guidance room that Mr. Saufler
teaches in. We have a resource room that gives extra help to
students. Mrs. Freeman is one of the helpers at the school. Cindy is
the secretary who takes our money for hot lunch. Mrs. Pitcher, Mrs.
Pontau, and Cindy help parents, students and teachers in the
office.
The Morris Farm is beside the school. We learn about plants and
animals: cows and chickens on the farm. We have a lot of field trips
because we like to learn outside of school. In the summer some of us
go to summer recreation at the school, some of us go to summer
school, and some of us just play.
We love our school and hope you do too.
