Problem Solving

This is the six step problem solving method we begin teaching in first grade. Students are given novel problems to solve which require cooperation and teamwork. They follow these steps practicing their social skills. Teaching this method to students and staff has made a very positive difference in how well our recesses run.

1. Do you have a problem?

2. What is the problem?

3. Brainstorm: What can you do?

4. Pick the best brainstorm idea.

5. Try it out!

6.Did it work?

Do you still have a problem?
