The Atlantic Ocean

By Mike

The Atlantic Ocean is a very pretty ocean. Though it is a cold ocean, it is a very lively ocean. We will start with the life in this ocean. Lots of people don't believe we have dolphins but we really do. We have some kinds of dolphins. We have humpback whales, great blue whales, and killer whales! We have shells and clams of all sort. I find a lot of sea shells on the shore and in the ocean. We have big turtles in the ocean too! I have seen one while I was swimming. We have all sorts of fish too.

In the summer, the Atlantic is the best place to go swimming, it is nice and cool. I like swimming there. So does my partner. We have big whales but I have never seen one either. The Atlantic Ocean does not get too many storms. It is not tropical like other oceans. Once in a while we will get a horrible hurricane or a rainstorm. We had a horrible ice storm in January 1998.

Also, the Atlantic is one of the two biggest oceans. It covers one fifth of the world. It is a very deep ocean. There are plentiful of plants in this sea. Scientists looked at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean and a lot of it is caves and big rocks. Scientists are looking for ways to get under the rock and find stuff in there. The Atlantic is also a key to the past to see how the Earth moves and what it was like back then. The Atlantic is 12,000 feet deep. That is more than two miles! But there are canyons in the water that stretch much deeper than that! There are whales in the Atlantic and there are salmon too. We are raising salmons in the science lab. We have a really wonderful ocean. All the mysteries of the Atlantic will not all be solved until a long time.
