The American Occupational Therapy Association (AOTA) is a professional organization for those in the field of occupational therapy (OT). The site is divided into 4 areas: (1) the AOTA area which provides membership information, OT news, and recommended readings; (2) the AOTF (American Occupational S Therapy Foundation) area which is focused on expanding knowledge of OT and providing funding to those interested in the OT field; (3) the Students area which provides membership information, a questions and answers section, and information on educational programs; and (4) the Consumers area which provides descriptions/definitions of OT, OT fact sheets, and a listing of related organizations.

The American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) is a professional organization representing those in the field of physical therapy (PT). The user can be linked via Yahoo! to other PT links. The APTA provides a historical perspective of PT as well as a resource center for more information. Membership and benefits information for joining APTA is also available. The user can be linked to either PTóMagazine of Physical Therapy or Physical Therapy to view articles related to current PT issues.

Healthtouch provides information on drugs and illnesses. The Drug Information option lets the user look up information about prescription or over-the-counter medications to find out about common drug uses, proper use of medicines, and possible drug side effects. The Pharmacy Search option lets the user access the address and phone number of pharmacies in his/her community that have Healthtouch in their stores. The Health Information option lets the user find up-to-date information on health, wellness, diseases, and illnesses. The topics include the prevention and treatment information on AIDS, allergy, asthma, dental health, diet and nutrition, drug and alcohol abuse, eye diseases, eating disorders, family planning, headaches, mental health, poison prevention, sexually transmitted diseases, and other health areas.

March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation http://www.modimes.org/

The March of Dimes is a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health of babies by reducing birth defects and infant mortality. The site includes information on birth defects, infant mortality, and prematurity in infant health statistics. The Resource Center provides health information and referral services. The user can also obtain information sheets about birth defects for public and professional education.

This clearinghouse is supported by the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) which is one component of the National Institutes of Health (NIH). It provides general information, information about research programs, organizational/personnel listings, and employment opportunities. The user may obtain announcements, agendas for upcoming meetings, news releases, and calendar of events from NIAMS. The site also presents fact sheets, brochures, health statistics, bibliographies, and consensus conference reports. Information about grants, contracts, clinical studies, and NIAMS/NIH reports can be obtained by the user. The NIAMS site also links to other biomedical resources and scientific research databases.

The National Health Information Center (NHIC) is a health information referral service. NHIC puts health professionals and consumers who have health questions in touch with those organizations that are best able to provide answers. The Health Information Resource Database includes 1,100 organizations and government offices that provide health information upon request.

The Nursing and Child Related Resources page provides two options: a) Nursing and Health and b) Child and Family. The Nursing and Health option links to WWW (World Wide Web) sites related to nursing, specific health disorders, and general health care. It also links to telnet sites and provides a description and subscription information on mailing lists related to nursing and general health issues. The Child and Family option allows the user to link to WWW sites related to children's health, parenting, and specific health conditions. It also provides a description and subscription information for discussion groups focused on child and family issues.

The PED INFO Home Page is a pediatric webserver that provides links to WWW (World Wide Web) sites, publications, organizations, mailing lists, companies, and discussion groups focused on pediatric medicine. The site focuses on conditions and diseases, subspecialties and areas, institutions, education, and parenting. The webserver also provides links to pediatric software and on-line publications. Another option is Internet Exploration which provides medical starting points such as indexes to facilitate the user's search for information on topics in pediatric medicine.

This site contains links and brief descriptions of associations, foundations, and institutes related to the health and mental health fields. Links to government sites and public policy sites are also available. Sections on sites exclusively for health and mental health are provided through PIE On-Line. Journals, publications, and newsletters about health and mental health are another source for links. The user may also be linked to many search engines to obtain additional information from the Internet.
