American Association on Mental Retardation (AAMR) is an interdisciplinary organization concerned with mental retardation and related disabilities. The AAMR Programs and Services section provides membership information including benefits and a calendar of AAMR events. It also allows the user to view periodicals and publications, training and convention information, and AAMR's policies and positions on legislative issues related mental retardation. The AAMR site links to other disability resources on the Internet.
 

The Arc, a National Organization on Mental Retardation http://TheArc.org/welcome.html

The Arc is the country's largest voluntary organization committed to the welfare of all persons with mental retardation and their families. The Arc page provides a search engine for the user to access specific topics. The user may read or share questions related to mental retardation (MR) on the Arc's discussion board. The Arc site will also link the user to other web sites related to MR and developmental disabilities. Another section provides fact sheets on topics related to MR. The final section enables the user to access the web pages for Arc chapters in the U.S.A. to obtain more information related to MR.

The Association for Persons with Severe Handicaps (TASH) is an international advocacy association of people with disabilities, their family members, other advocates, and people who work in the disability field. At this site, the user may obtain more information about TASH as well as membership. The site also links to other sites related to disabilities.

The Down Syndrome WWW Page presents information about Down Syndrome through articles, essays, and personal narratives. Organizations related to Down Syndrome are listed by countries and links are provided if possible. The Down Syndrome WWW Page links to resources related to inclusion and education, research and funding, disabilities and medicine, and parent and sibling support. Toy catalogs and FAQs (Frequently Asked Questions) about Down Syndrome are available at this site.

FRAXA is a national, non-profit organization run by parents and medical professionals. The FRAXA Research Foundation Home Page presents a photo gallery that displays the common physical characteristics of people with Fragile X syndrome. The next section explains what Fragile X is by providing information about the symptoms, the cause, the testing procedure, and treatment of Fragile X. The Research Foundation section gives the user information about its research projects, newsletters, publications, membership, and regional chapters. The last section provides links to other Fragile X Web sites.

The Hydrocephalus Association is a non-profit organization affiliated with the Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH)/ Harvard Medical School. The site provides information on programs and publications available. The publications include a fact sheet and newsletter articles. Links to other hydrocephalus support groups and to the Developmental Neuroseurgery Unit Homepage from MGH/Harvard Medical School are provided from this site.

The National Association for Down Syndrome (NADS) is a not-for-profit organization founded by parents of children with Down syndrome. The News page presents a newsletter, a listing of upcoming events, and information on legislative issues. The Resources page provides a bibliography of publications, other Down syndrome links, and a listing of support groups. The Scientific page provides information related to scientific and medical options for treatment of Down Syndrome.

National Association of Developmental Disabilities Councils (NADDC) is a national organization of DD Councils that advocate for people with developmental and other disabilities and their families. The NADDC site provides links to DD Council home pages and information on their accomplishments. At the Public Policy page, the user may obtain legislative updates or link to governmental agencies and other national disability organizations. The Resource File presents NADDC publications, a consultant database, and an index of Internet disability resources.

The National Down Syndrome Society (NDSS) is focused on education, advocacy, and research related to Down syndrome. The NDSS page presents general information on Down syndrome for parents and professionals including a question and answer section, a myths and truths section, and a bibliography of publications related to Down syndrome. Other sections are focused on clinical/medical, educational, research, and advocacy information. The NDSS provides a link to their affiliate programs, to special programs, and to other web pages related to Down syndrome.

The Waisman Center is a national center dedicated to developmental disabilities (DD). The site contains a link to Waisman Center publications, programs, and research labs.
