Dear Mr. Carter and Ms. Lattes,

We feel very badly about what happened to your dogs. Some of us have pets and we know what it would be like to lose them.

We would like you to know that not all Maine people are bad. Most of us are nice, but sometimes someone bad comes and they can't control their actions.

We collected some money and our class is sending you a book called Shiloh. It takes place in West Virginia (We are learning about W.V. in social studies and it sounds like a beautiful place. Our teacher LOVES W.V. She lived there for seven years.) and it is about a dog who has trouble. We are dedicating this book to Huck and Willa's memory. We think you might like the book. We did.

We are really sorry that Willa and Huck died.

When you are ready to get another dog the Lincoln County Animal Shelter in Edgecomb, Maine has many loving animals to adopt.

Please try to enjoy your stay in Maine. We think your Viking ship is COOL!
